Brazilian oboist Layla Köhler studied oboe in São Paulo under Joel Gisiger before moving to London as an undergraduate student under the tuition of Olivier Stankiewicz and Fabien Thouand at the Royal College of Music.

A holder of an ABRSM scholarship, Layla made her concerto debut in 2017 accompanied by the São Paulo Symphony Orchestra through the São Paulo Symphony Young Soloists Award, in which she won in first place. She has won a number of other awards including the Almeida Machado Prize and the Eleazar de Carvalho Prize, the most prestigious prize in Brazil, and is a former student of the São Paulo Symphony Music Academy.
